Educational Conferences and Workshops
The Children's Hearing Institute is proud to partner with The New York Eye & Ear Cochlear Implant Center to sponsor an ongoing series of educational conferences and workshops, which are always sold-out events attracting people from around the country:
|
For Parents and Families
We provide interactive educational workshops for parents, siblings and grandparents where family issues can be addressed. These help families learn how to become part of the team of people that are helping their child with hearing loss learn to "love to listen." In February 2005 we sponsored Learning to Love to Listen! led by Dave Sindrey, Cert AVT, to help parents learn how to use their time with their children most effectively.
For Professionals: Including teachers of the deaf, mainstream teachers, audiologists, speech/language pathologists
We provide regional conferences for audiologists, speech/language pathologists, and teachers and educators who have hearing impaired children in their classrooms. These conferences "teach the teachers" about hearing loss, how to "trouble shoot" functional problems with hearing aids and cochlear implants and how to maximize hearing and learning for a child who is hearing impaired.
